Call for Submissions

Advent Anthology III: Angels from Their Realms of Story (Christmas 2014)

Given the great response to this first anthologies, we are already accepting submissions for next year. We hope to create another similar anthology for which the proceeds will be given to Autism research.

Here are the guidelines:

1. All short stories (500 – 10,000 words) must be based on a Christmas Carol. I would prefer that you use carols that are in the public domain, especially if you use the lyrics as part of your story.  Please make an effort to use carols that were not used in the first anthology (see “Song Lyrics”). I will consider duplicates.

2. All stories must be uplifting and family-friendly. Please no profanity, adult situations, or violence.

3. Any genre is welcome, and variety is encouraged.

4. To submit a story for consideration please send the story as a .rtf, .doc or .docx file. Please include an author bio of no more than 250 words. The story should have a title that is different from the carol on which it is based and you should specifically state which carol you are using.  Also send a document with your contact information and the following statement:

“I hereby allow Michael D. Young to use my short story as part of a short story anthology and grant him one-time digital and print rites to this story only.”

Send all submissions or any questions  to thecanticlekingdom@gmail.com and must be in by March 1st, 2014. If I receive more usable entries than I have slots for the 2013 anthology, you will automatically considered for the 2014 anthology.
